What is the difference between a t-section, partial and full highlight?
What is the difference between a t-section, partial and full highlight? Simply put, it’s all about how much of your hair you want to brighten.
Highlights and lowlights add dimension and depth.
If you’ve ever used a box color, then you know the difference between flat color and the rich colors of the salon. Not only is our product better, but we apply it with careful precision to get the look you are going for. Highlights are lighter colors and lowlights are the darker colors. In a natural color job, highlights might be added throughout the head or only through part of it.
Full highlights are what we typically recommend to first-time visitors because they go throughout the whole head. These highlights are most commonly used for light blonde hair styles, though a very light color is sometimes used in dark blonde, brown or red hair colors. Once the whole head is colored, our clients sometimes choose a partial or t-section highlight for touch ups to areas of the scalp that are revealed with a part or hair style so the hair growth does not show.
Partial highlights are great for brunettes and darker blondes who want to lighten the top part of their hair in a natural way. If you spend a lot of time in the sun, you might notice that the top portion lightens, while the underneath part does not. This is the same appearance given when partial highlights are applied. Partial highlights will give your hair a sun-kissed appearance when down, but reveal a darker underneath portion when pulled back into a ponytail.
T-section highlights are for those who just want to brighten the hair around the face. Typically, a t-section is done based on where you commonly part your hair and highlights about ¼ of the head. This face-framing highlight job is great for holding off a full highlight for a couple more weeks or simply brightening an overall hair style.
At the end of the day, the highlight job that is ideal for you all depends the look you want to create. We highly recommend you sit down with a stylist prior to your first visit to consider ideal options for your hair. Call our hair salon in Houston today to see if we are the perfect fit for you.
